The climate at Bhimtal is perfect for horticulture and therefore it is no surprise that the town is home to the Butterfly Research Centre that displays a wide variety of these insects (entry is INR 100 per person). After a visit to the museum, make your way to the small Dhat Market where you can buy local handicrafts and shawls. The Himjoli outlet on Mehragaon road is a good place to buy organic food and local herbs like Himalayan nettle, cedar and apricot.
If you plan to extend your trip, make sure you also check out V Resorts Sattal, which is only 7.2 kms (drive time: 20 minutes) away. A hill top resort, we strongly recommend you ask our staff at resort to arrange for an evening tea at the sunset point close to the resort. It is sure to add a unique element to your entire holiday!
